This story came to me with one condition: that it continue to be told.
Collected in Panticosa from the living voice of Casa Lauré, Rabadancito is a children's story from the oral tradition of the Aragonese Pyrenees that has been passed down by word of mouth for generations. A young shepherd who, in the face of danger, will have to pluck up courage and go down to the village alone to seek help to save his flock.
The illustrations are by David Guirao, inspired by the landscapes of the Tena valley and by the photographs of the great Ricardo Compairé, one of the first photographers of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
The magic of this popular tale lies in the little song that is repeated throughout the plot. Children quickly learn it and it makes them want to return to it, again and again, to sing it anew and be the protagonists.
To read aloud. To tell before bedtime. To not let it be lost.
